Starting today, I dub the next 2 weeks, Green Weeks.
Why you ask?
Well because it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day! And, I have no idea why, but I love St. Patrick’s Day. It’s just so… green… And after St. Patty’s, there’s April’s Earth Day. So expect more Green Weeks next month.
During Green Weeks, you’ll get your fill of all things green. Smoothies, juices, plants, info, anything and everything green. Have fun with it and feel free to send some suggestions for a green topic!
Green Week, Day One
Basil Banana Green Smoothie
- 1 banana
- 1-2 cups fresh spinach
- 8-10 fresh basil leaves
- 1 1/2 cups almond milk
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds (optional)
- 3-5 drops liquid Stevia, or bit of agave nectar
dash mount of cinnamon
Blend, blend, blend.
Pour into a glass.
Sprinkle with raw cacao nibs.
Then sprinkle with goji berries.
This smoothie makes 2 glass or 1 really giant glass. I shared with my boyfriend. It’s good being green.
This is one of the best smoothies I have had. The boyfriend agreed, as well. Super simple and long overdue in trying basil in a smoothie, as suggested by my favorite twin bloggers
. I give the smoothie two green thumbs up!
Speaking of green thumbs and Green Weeks, the boyfriend and I started our indoor garden yesterday!
Isn’t it cute?
We were browsing the gardening section at Home Depot and found this little variety kit.
We start our plants indoors and replant outside when they’ve sprouted and the weather gets warmer.
The kit came with pellets of dried soil (seen below), a variety of seeds, tags, indoor and outdoor gardening tips, recipes, and detailed instructions. Easy.
Step One: Put each pellet into it’s own compartment. Immerse with warm water to expand.
Step Two: Plant each seed(s) based on packet instruction.
Step Three: Cover (soon to be sprouted) seeds with top cover to create the green house effect.
Step Four: Watch your babies grow. And you can bet I will be posting pictures of their process! So excited!
We have a garden every year but not with the variety we will have this year. And they will be stronger since we’re starting them inside and can take care of them a little more often…
Soon we will have Mesclun greens, oregano, cilantro, basil, sweet peppers, cucumbers, and tomotoes.
Squash, carrots, and green beans were also included in the pack but these are to be planted outdoors only.
So much fun.
Now I’m needing to get started on my composting… more on that later.
After greening our bodies and tummies, Boyfriend and I juiced our little hearts out.
