It’s About Time: Alaska and Weights

Posted byLori Posted onSeptember 9, 2010 Comments15

Remember when I went to Alaska? I mean, it’s been a few months now (wow, time flies!) but I just got more pictures back from some of the girls who were on the trip with me. Wanna see? Sure ya do! (and like you have a choice…)

Erica, Kristi, Me!

Me, Kristi, Moose
The girls and the Glacier (I'm first on the left)
And the best part: DEEP SEA SALMON FISHING! (I'm in purple)

Salmon! One of the honorary bridesmen 😉

Good times. 🙂

So, besides that I really don’t have much to share today. I’m lacking in the recipe department lately due to some changes in my social life… or lack thereof. But I have been working out with a personal trainer, besides doing CrossFit, and we’ve been tweaking my calories/fats/carbs/proteins. And low and behold, I’ve found out that I should be eating about 2300 calories a day (CRAZY) to maintain my weight- and even lose some weight with all the lifting/exercise I’m doing. That is a lot of food. We took measurements yesterday so I’ll be updating you with progress as it comes. 😉

When I get more settled into the world of personal training, I’ll post some exercises and meal plans. Maybe someone out there will be interested in it…

For now, I’ll leave you with some high protein eats-

Bison steaks and veggies. Mmmmmm.....

Roasted marinated pork for "tacos"

Cabbage wrap, pork, fresh pico de gallo

Best Dish Ever.
Vegan Mac 'N Cheeze with spaghetti squash

Seriously, I TOTALLY recommend making this recipe. From The Fitness Dish, Vegan Mac ‘N Cheez– Sooo good. It is becoming a staple in my casa for the simple reason it’s delicious- not to mention easy, fast, and super nutritious!

Oven roasted butternut squash drizzled with tahini

  5. I hope to go to Alaska someday. Did you see The Proposal? The Alaskan scenery was almost as impressive as Ryan Reynolds face and body.

My complaint – why can’t I learn to appreciate each day?

My life is unfolding perfectly in that I got a VITA MIX!!!! for my birthday yesterday. And had one of the best birthdays ever – felt very loved, got lots of alone time and had a day that lived up to what I hoped it would be.

  6. That vegan mac and cheese looks seriously incredible.

Today I am doing my best to let go for my work schedule. Yes, it sucks, but there is nothing I can do about it.

My life may not be unfolding exactly how I want it to at the moment, but I am doing some pretty amazing things in other parts of my life that I am pretty stoked on!

  7. I’m interested in your ratios and PT stuff! That should come as no surprise though.

My one complaint that has been bugging me all day is the butternut squash my neighbors took from my garden while I was gone. I can’t let it go…

My life is unfolding perfectly in….I don’t know. I don’t think there is such a thing as a perfect life.

  8. So neat to see your Alaska pics – so familiar too! I haven’t been out on the deep ocean this year – did you come to Homer for that?

I for one would be _very_ interested to see how your meal/eating planning evolves through working with a personal trainer. The amount you work out, I’m almost surprised you don’t need more! Especially the macronutrient ratios are really interesting – and of course they vary from person to person as well as by activity level.

Complaint I can’t let go of? That there never seem to be enough hours in the day, I never seem to have enough energy to do as much as I want to do, that there’s no space in our tiny cabin!

But life is unfolding perfectly because I’m gradually making connections and contacts both at home and away to realize my best uses and most fulfilling roles.

    Thanks to you!
    love

The one complaint I can’t let go of is to do with my job…I really want to leave it and go into something more my passion. Yet, this seems like and impossible task some days.
