Thoughts

My dad isn’t doing well, health-wise.

He had a heart attack this past weekend, making this his third. After going all night with not feeling well, pushing aside the warning signs, 18 hours later (18 hours of being in a heart attack), he finally went to the hospital.

He’s in one of the best hospitals in northern California, still, receiving excellent care. He’s in amazing spirits but we’re still not sure what’s going to happen or if he’s going to be able to come home.

It’s hard to see someone you love so much go through anything like this. But being around friends, family, people who care, is so uplifting and heart-warming. Thank you to all of you who have offered kind words. πŸ™‚

My dad has had heart problems since I was little. Maybe that’s part of the reason I’m so hard on myself to stay healthy. Maybe that’s part of the reason I have such a strong value of health.

When your body needs replenishing, replenish it.

When your body needs nourishment, exercise, rest, relaxation, movement, vitamins and minerals, make sure you try to distinguish which it needs, then follow accordingly. Too often we take our health for granted when we have it. There are so many ways we can “abuse” the body we have. Just make sure you are willing, or maybe even conscious enough, to realize when it’s time to make a change. Whatever that change, big, small, momentary, or long-term, may  be.

I think the real reason I’m writing this is to help me get this all out of my head. And also to just help us see that life is short and should be enjoyed, but also listen to our bodies, minds, emotions, along the ride.

Awkward transition….

Happy Wednesday! Live it for all it’s worth.

Thoughts for the Day – Inner Strength

  • If you can start the day without caffeine.
  • If you can get going without pep pills.
  • If you can always be cheerful ignoring aches and pains.
  • If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles.
  • If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it.
  • If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you time.
  • If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you.
  • If you can take criticism and blame without resentment.
  • If you can ignore a friend’s limited education and never correct him.
  • If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend.
  • If you can face the world without lies and deceit.
  • If you can relax without liquor. (ha, not really but it helps. πŸ˜‰ )
  • If you can learn from your mistakes
