And how was your Halloween weekend?

Mine was decent. I did absolutely nothing for actual Halloween except completely overhaul the house (cleaning was a MUST). But Saturday I made sure I hit up CrossFit, to which I had an amazing workout, of course.

We had a huge class. We worked on overhead squats- which are definitely something I would like to work on more often- seriously great for all stabilizing muscles, including your core. And our WOD was a “prison” cell workout:

For time, complete each move 10 times, then 9 times, then 8 times… all the way to 1 time.

10, 9, 8 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

  • Kettlebell swings (35 lbs)
  • Burpees
  • Plate sit-ups (25# plate)

LOVE IT.

Saturday I went to my first hockey game, San Jose Sharks vs. Anaheim Ducks. Funny because I used to live near Anaheim, and the Ducks were my team. Now I live near San Jose…

Anyway, we had purchased cheaper tickets, and well, you get what you pay for, right? Not that the view was bad, it wasn’t, but we wanted better…

Seats #2... after we, um, sneak down to the lower level...

So, peer-pressure is a b***h mighty fun thing at times, and when used for good, not evil, results yield highly desirable returns. We used our covert skills to move down to the lower levels where we saw (tons) of seats open. It worked… four times. We were able to enjoy the game in about 20 minute increments before an usher would ask to see our tickets and then nicely ask us to leave. Whatever, it was fun.

Fact: I LOVE The Nightmare Before Christmas. LOVE.

Fact: I hate carving pumpkins.

Fortunately for me, my boyfriend knows I like the movie and likes carving pumpkins. End result is a seriously amazing carved pumpkin. I was truly impressed. Especially since he did it freehand.

Boyfriend, yes, you’re pretty creative… but don’t let that go to your head… πŸ˜‰

What kid movies do you love?

Pumpkin carving: love it or hate it? I’d much rather eat the thing…

  1. i have a hard time understanding how anyone could enjoy pumpkin carving! the process of laying down newspaper or garbage bags and scooping out the seeds..ugh.. and i usually do it outside so that i dont make a mess..so cold hands and cold pumpkin guts never feels fun. and then somehow my pumpkin is all slimy and messy..so when i try to carve something its usually horrendous lol. id much rather eat it too!

  2. Sweet workout! I still have to get some things like a kettle ball. 35 lbs is a lot though – crazy! I’m going to try a HIIT style workout like that this week, but probably not as hardcore at first. We shall see.

    Your class looks a bit light in female representation.

    Um, large squashes and knives – not two things that should be in my hands at the same time. Yeah.

  3. I LOVE ice hockey games!!! Jealous.

    I hate carving pumpkins, but I do wish someone had carved one for me. I like seeing them…hate doing it. Me + sharp knife + frustration = BAD.

    I am still struggling with adding meat back into my diet these past few days. I had tilapia at a mexican restaurant, but other than that, nothing has surpassed my mouth in meat/fish form. I’m trying, though!

  6. Wow – he free-handed that mouth? The guys got skills!

    I’m in the thick of kid movies with two little ones. My favorites lately are Cars (a Disney movie where no parent dies, there is no evil stepmother, a princess isn’t waiting for a prince to save her or some dark plot involving death of an innocent character) and Lady & The Tramp. Pre kids, I’ve always enjoyed Shrek and The Incredibles.
